Google Shopping Ads Review Feed from Volusion Review Records.

Those of you who are doing Google Shopping Ads may have gotten the same email regarding reviews. They are wanting us to provide the review feeds now either through a company like Power Reviews or our own feed. Since we do not use company we have opted to send our Volusion Reviews. They have sent us the sample feed. I am checking to see if anyone has this feed set up yet from the Volusion Reviews yet.

If so if I can get them to work with me on it. I will be happy to offset any programming fees you paid.

If not if there is a programmer out there who will help me before I post it to one of the contract sites please let me know.

For all I know this could already there. I have looked at the XML review export and it looks like I just need to just change heading names but I do not have clue how to go about it. here are the feed examples:

    Code:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <feed xmlns:vc="http://www.w3.org/2007/XMLSchema-versioning"
     xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"

    Gifty,

How long did you wait to get the sample feed? I received/signed the agreement, but haven't received anything else yet. Will also be sending the feed via V.

shewt! Thought this would be easy to do with ability to export reviews.

Will be happy to go in on it with you, and yes would prefer help from the forum vs. stranger. That's assuming I ever get the sample feed/go ahead from Google...

This is not something that Volusion will have right out of the box but is something that can be produced with a custom ASP page which pulls the review data and formats it accordingly.

Are they requiring you to upload a XML file or provide a link to one? Perhaps post there requirements here so we can take a look at it.

Here is everything I have beyond the example feed I provided.
    1. The full URL where the full and incremental reviews XML files are located.

    Example:
    For full feeds: https://www.partnerdomain.com/reviews/full/feed.xml

    For incremental (delta) feeds: https://www.partnerdomain.com/review...2010_12_04.xml

    2. Username/password if above URL is protected.

    3. Frequency of updates for the full and incremental feeds (daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly). It is very important that all details of the schedule is communicated.

    Example:
Full feed - Available very 2nd of the month after 5AM EST
Incremental Feed - Available every Tuesday after 8PM EST

    4. The Favicon (16x16 pixels image) that will be displayed with your reviews. Please send the images as a URL and not as an attachment

    GGG,

First I filled out one form saying I wanted to do reviews. Then I got another email to complete which I thought was the form where I received / signed the agreement email. That is the email you may be referring to. Then I go this last email that has more information for another or the main agreement and the file specifications. You can see them in this thread. I tried to massage the data from the Volusion export but determined that I would end up making a mess.

I am still struggling with Shopping PPC ads since the change. We are still at 3 times the price for less results than we previously had.

Do they have a place where you can test a file?

Define a little better the incremental feed.

  7. #7
    I'm a little lost as I never got a email (that I remember). 😒

Gifty - have you been able to divide your products somehow to get at the item detail? I was able to get my feed roi up at least 4-5x when I pulled out best sellers by item if and bid them high while lowering and even excluding products that are low profit, low qty or products with high cost and no roi. I was able to divide product by product types (merchant category) but I wish I could add label or two but product type seems to be working ok. I'll send you a good link about shopping format too that was very helpful to me. I am going to go back and incorporate some of the ideas from the article in my feed to further improve.

PS. Gifty doesn't Excel change xml to spreadsheet and vs versa? I have made a spreadsheet from an xml file by converting through excel once. There is some kind of converter wizard I just followed. Has not a clue what I was doing but it still worked.

Gifty, how long did you wait for that last email? It's been six days since I signed the agreement.

Brenda, I didn't get the email either, so I took matters into my own hands. Fill out the form and request.

    Marc,

I have no idea if this is what they need or not. Gifty, does this sound familiar?

    Marc,

The link GGG posted is the same file I posted in code and in the link below

This information which was part of the contents in an email is all of the information I have:
    Please indicate the following-

Additionally, I have included the following links to help guide you through setting up your Google Product Reviews feed:

Technical detailed information about creating Google Product Reviews Feeds
    Google Product Reviews Program Policies
From what I can determine they want us to provide two files:

A file with all of the reviews.
    https://www.partnerdomain.com/reviews/full/feed.xml
This one may only be needed one time but they showing that we should provide a schedule so we might do this one monthly.

And incremental file with just the updates since the last update which we could do weekly.
    https://www.partnerdomain.com/review...2010_12_04.xml

We could even actually do these by hand if we just knew how to manipulate the data correctly along the lines of using a spreadsheet and converting it to an xml file with the correct headings.

The number of reviews we get is not enough that we really need to do that much. We might be able to get away with just doing the full feed once a month.

So I would think that we would get everything working ourselves and test it to the best of our ability to look like their file and then I would give the links to my contact by responding their email and see what happens.

This is how it works with Google on new feeds. They have not provided an environment yet that I know of.

    Incremental Feed
By that I mean the new product reviews that have come in since the last full review file had been loaded or the last incremental update file had been provided. So you would start with a file of all (full) of the reviews and then have a feed (incremental) that keeps adding new reviews as they come in.

Since I am not a programmer I am not 100% on this but I think this is how it would work:

Provide Reviews 1 through 100 in Full Review File on Oct 1
Provide Reviews 101 through 105 in Incremental Review File on Oct 7
Provide Reviews 106 through 108 in Incremental Review File on Oct 14
Provide Reviews 109 through 115 in Incremental Review File on Oct 21
Provide Reviews 116 through 120 in Incremental Review File on Oct 28

Provide Reviews 1 through 120 in Full Review File on Nov 1
Provide Reviews 121 through 123 in Incremental Review File on Nov 7
Provide Reviews 124 through 128 in Incremental Review File on Nov 14
    continued

I would think that you would not duplicate any of the Reviews in the incremental file. If you look at the definitions of an Incremental Backup File this is how they describe it.

I have a script which generates the required XML file based on the minimum required Google feed documentation data however I have no way of testing it. I am not going to post the script here because it contains scripting methods that I do not at this time wish to post freely, however if you are interested drop me a PM.

    Marc,

I just emailed Google asking for next step since our agreement was signed 11 days ago. I'll be happy to let you know when I hear back, so that you can test in my store all you want.

I'll also be happy to pay you for this awesome assist!

    Marc,
I can not respond by private message. Your box is full:
Once we get the feed working I will write my contact and provide the link with caveat that we think it is working but of course we had no way to test it against their requirements. I will ask him to get back to us if it doesn't work as they need.
So what do you need from to load the file or can I load it?
    Thanks a bunch.
    Gifty

    Marc,

I got the go ahead last night from Google.

Haven't had a chance to look at it yet and busy day today after yesterday's holiday.

Just let me know what you need.
